Mode Conditioning Patchcord The Fibercan Mode Conditioning Patchcord are designed to be used with LX/LH
GBIC and other applications where both singlemode and multimode
interconnects must be maintained. When an unconditioned laser
source designed for operation on singlemode fiber cable directly
coupled to an MMF cable, an effect known as differential mode
delay(DMD) might occur. DMD can degrade the modal bandwidth of the
fiber optic cable, which causes a decrease in the link span that
can be reliably supported. The solution is to launch light from the
laser at a precise offset from the center, which is accomplished by
using the Mode Conditioning Cables. The Offset point creates a
